OFFICIAL PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT

Official Response from the New York State Law Enforcement-Community Council (NYSLECC)(NYSLECC)
April 1, 2025

In response to the recent public statement issued by the New York Firearms Association (NYFA), the New York State Law Enforcement-Community Council (NYSLECC), with the support of legal and federal compliance advisors, hereby provides the following clarifications and rebuttals:

1. Clarification on Organizational Independence
NYSLECC operates as an independent and officially recognized entity under New York State law. At no point has it entered into any formal contractual partnership with the New York Firearms Association (NYFA). Any past communications or cooperative activities were informal and conducted in good faith, without constituting any legally binding affiliation.

2. Termination of Public Association
In keeping with its ethical standards and commitment to community safety, NYSLECC previously issued a statement formally terminating any public association with NYFA. This decision was made to ensure transparency, professional integrity, and the protection of stakeholders’ interests.

3. Unauthorized Use of NYSLECC Logo
NYSLECC has become aware that its official logo has appeared on NYFA membership cards and related materials. As NYFA is neither an affiliate nor a recognized partner of NYSLECC, such use is unauthorized and misleading. NYSLECC hereby formally demands the immediate removal of its logo from all NYFA-issued items, including membership cards, promotional materials, and digital content. Continued misuse may result in legal action.

4. Denial of Defamation Allegations
The claim of “malicious defamation” raised by NYFA is completely unfounded. NYSLECC has never disseminated false information, nor has it unlawfully disclosed any personal or identifying information of NYFA members. All matters involving internal investigations have been conducted in full compliance with local, state, and federal privacy laws, including the New York State Civil Rights Law, New York Penal Law, and the federal Privacy Act of 1974.

5. Commitment to Legal Compliance and Due Process
As a nonprofit organization, NYSLECC upholds the rule of law and strictly adheres to due process. Any allegations against NYSLECC or its personnel are subject to internal review and, where necessary, will be addressed through appropriate legal channels. We remain fully cooperative with law enforcement and regulatory agencies in all investigations.

6. Rejection of Intimidation and False Accusations
NYSLECC will not be intimidated by public statements aimed at undermining its legal standing or public service mission. We reserve the right to pursue legal counterclaims against defamatory or retaliatory accusations that are unsubstantiated.

Conclusion
NYSLECC remains firmly committed to lawful governance, community engagement, and interagency cooperation. We urge NYFA and its representatives to act with caution and responsibility in their public communications and conduct, as unfounded allegations may expose them to civil liability.
